On scores with Nike kit showcase
We’re always up for a challenge here at On Event Production Co., so when Ear to the Ground came to us with a brief to help deliver the centrepiece of a huge kit launch for Chelsea and Tottenham for sportswear manufacturer Nike, we couldn’t wait to get started.
We supported the award-winning agency with the construction, manufacture, sound, lighting and effects for the event, at The Sports Direct Stadium in Newcastle.
The agency's fully-immersive football and running extravaganza for Nike took its inspiration from the humble players’ tunnel, and we were tasked with creating two distinct, visually stunning tunnels in which the experience could take place.
We fabricated and finished the two huge tunnels with coloured LEDs and strip lights to add to the drama of the event as the big unveil unfolded. In one, Nike unveiled its latest range of kit, and in the other, there were a series of football and running-related challenges for guests to take part in, including penalty kicks and a timed sprint around various obstacles.
Our Creative Director, Chris Vernon-Smith, said: “We’re not really football fans here at On, so this job took us right out of our comfort zone and challenged us to come up with a technical and environmental solution that would really help Ear to the Ground inspire the audience.
“However, we got a terrific brief from the agency in terms of what they were looking to achieve and how they wanted the audience to feel, and were able to work with them to execute the plan perfectly.”
